Ogun state’s dying sports culture

Eighteen-year-old Babatunde Mayowa is seeking an admission into one of Nigeria’s higher institutions of learning. He finished from Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Ogun State in 2014 but wants to compete for Nigeria as a sportsman.
The tall lanky youngster is good in the sprints and has made the school team on a couple of occasions but his participation never exceeded the school’s inter-house sports and a few invitational relay races.
He said, “It is only during this competition that we have the chance to train apart from our inter-house sports and the invitational relays. I would want to run for Ogun and Nigeria and I believe when I get to the higher institution I will have the opportunity to achieve that dream.”
